Friendship Botanic Gardens in Michigan City, Indiana announces the appointment of Dr. Rima Binder as President of the Board of Directors. Long-time President of the Board John Leinweber resigned last month after many years of service. John Leinweber served 9 years as President and under his tenure The Gardens have seen tremendous improvements and restoration. John’s dedication and financial contributions have given The Gardens a new life, and they have drawn new visitors, donors, and members from across La Porte County, Northwest Indiana, and beyond.

The Friendship Botanic Gardens Board of Directors wishes to congratulate Rima Binder, PhD. as its new President. Rima has been an active member of the Friendship Botanic Gardens Board for over nine years. She is also a long-time resident of the Long Beach community. She has already taken a lead role in welcoming various organizations to work with The Gardens while overseeing the growth and care of the botanical aspects of the institution. With her leadership, we look forward to continuing the growth and revitalization of The Gardens that was begun by John Leinweber.
