Canterbury Summer Theatre Investigates Titanic Mystery in 'Scotland Road' Canterbury Summer Theatre presents its final show of the 2023 season, the mystery-thriller, Scotland Road, performing August 3-5. The theatre is located at 807 Franklin Street in Michigan City.

The play is written by Jeffrey Hatcher, a veteran playwright and screenwriter, whose other works include The Turn of the Screw, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, both of which have been produced m in previous Canterbury seasons.

In the last decade of the twentieth century, a beautiful young woman in nineteenth-century clothing is found floating on an iceberg in the middle of the North Atlantic. When rescued, she says only one word: Titanic.

The woman is taken to an isolated spot on the coast of Maine where an expert on the sinking of the liner, a mysterious man named John, has arranged to interrogate her for six days. His goal: to crack her story, get her to confess she’s a fake, and reveal her true identity; his one clue: her enigmatic references to an unknown place called “Scotland Road.”

The play is directed by Canterbury Artistic Director, Ray Scott Crawford, and is produced in association with Bossier Parish Community College, where Crawford heads the theatre program.

The production will premiere at Canterbury and continue on to a performance run in Louisiana.
