The public is invited to attend the annual State of the City address, Mayor Angie Nelson Deuitch’s first since taking office, on April 10 at Holdcraft Performing Arts Center, 1200 Spring St.
The mayor will share some of the highlights from her first hundred days in office, from the internal workings of various city departments to new programs and projects on the horizon.
“The goal of the State of the City is to get buy-in from the residents, to earn their support for new initiatives and to get new ideas from them,” Nelson Deuitch said. “This is really a way to allow the mayor to give an update, but also to spend some time talking to the residents and getting them excited over what’s coming over the next couple years.”
State of the City attendees also will be invited to submit suggestions on notecards provided during the event for what they hope to see accomplished during Nelson Deuitch’s administration.
“We’re looking for opportunities to boost community engagement,” the mayor said. “The State of the City is an annual event; but we really want to focus on building a good foundation over this first year of our administration. Determining what that looks like for the city and how the community can participate is what this first one is all about.”
The State of the City address will begin at 10 a.m., with doors opening to the public at 9:30 a.m.
