Get Out of Your Comfort Zone in 2025: Volunteer at Reins of Life, Inc.
Reins of Life is a therapeutic horseback riding facility
that serves NWI children and adults with disabilities through horseback riding,
therapeutic carriage driving, interactive vaulting, school programs, and
community visits. Each participant requires one to three volunteers for their
lesson, so the volunteer need is high. There are also two feeding shifts per
day, with three to four volunteers per shift.
Even if you don’t have any horse experience, Reins would
love to add you to their volunteer roster. Volunteers handle horses and
interact with participants, families, and other volunteers. Volunteering can be
great exercise, an excuse to get outside, and a unique way to spend a couple of
hours every week. The benefits to volunteers are immense, but the program is
life-changing for the participants who can be as young as two years old.
Reins of Life invites all their community neighbors, age
13+, to a new volunteer training on Monday, January 6, from 2-4:30 PM CT or
Tuesday, January 7, from 5:30-8:30 PM CT. After attending one training, you’ll
be able to volunteer during therapeutic riding lessons, school groups, and
special events. If you’re interested in volunteering in the therapeutic
carriage driving program or interactive vaulting, there are additional
trainings for each program. Those interested in feeding must be 16+ years old
and will receive private training.
A Reins of Life volunteer recently remarked, “I know how
important it is for the kids to ride and how disappointed they would be to
cancel class, so it’s very special and rewarding to me to make it happen.”
Please consider joining the Reins volunteer team. The
rewards are immense for both you and the participants!
To RSVP for either of these
training sessions, please call 219-874-7519. If no one answers, please leave a
message including your email address.
