ShareTweetReturn to ListingLa Porte County Middle School Students Invited to participate in Summer Leadership CampLa Porte County, IN06/04/2024 11:24 AM Leadership La Porte County is pleased to announce Summer Leadership Camp for middle school students. Students from throughout La Porte County entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grades are eligible to participate. The purpose of the camp is to engage students in activities to promote leadership skills and positive character development. The camp is funded by generous grants from the Health Foundation of La Porte and the Michigan City Mayor Angie Nelson Deuitch Youth Empowerment fund. The camp will take place beginning on Monday, July 22nd through Thursday, July 29th from 9 a.m. to Noon each day. The camp will take place at Creek Ridge County Park. Visit the Leadership La Porte County website on the Youth Program tab for registration information or contact the Leadership La Porte County office to request a sign-up form to be emailed to you. The Camp activities provide experiential learning of key concepts such as team building, personal responsibility, self-confidence, and respect for others. Students will participate in problem-solving scenarios and group work to advance their teamwork skills. They will also learn about La Porte County and building community. During the school year, the students can continue their leadership training with meetings and activities that will focus on community volunteerism, philanthropy, servant leadership, and civic responsibility. “The power of youth in our community is a valuable resource to tap. We are grateful for community partnerships with the Unity Foundation, the Health Foundation of La Porte, and the Michigan City Mayor Youth Empowerment fund to further our mission. For more than 15 years the program has reached hundreds of middle school students from throughout La Porte County. It is a powerful program for an age group that needs positive activities and messages,” Komasinski concluded.
