Hello community businesses and organizations. The Melanated Business Association of Northwest Indiana, (MBA of NWI, Inc.) is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Community Juneteenth Celebration Concert on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the Guy Foreman Amphitheater, and a Juneteenth Community Family Day on Wednesday June 19, 2024, at Charles R. Wescott Park, both located in beautiful Michigan City, IN 46360.

Juneteenth, also, known as Emancipation Day and Freedom Day, marks the day when the Federal Troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to tell enslaved people that they had been freed, months after the Civil War ended. The word Juneteenth is derived of portmanteau of June and nineteenth.

Our goal is to bring our community together during the Juneteenth celebration. This is a community event, and admission will be free as well as free food, and activities will be provided. Food vendors will be present for community members who would like to purchase additional food varieties. In additional there will be community resource vendors on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024. An Inflatable Obstacle Course, Demonstrations of Fitness and Health, Praise Dancers, Drill Teams, Stilt Walkers, Music Entertainment, Open Mic, resources, and health screenings will be provided for plenty of fun, and information for all ages.
