Reins of Life Therapeutic Horseback Riding Center is growing and needs more volunteers! Their mission is to improve the quality of life for children and adults through equine-assisted services and activities. Whether you assist a rider during their riding or carriage driving lesson, do classroom activities with local special education students, take a pony to a local nursing home, or feed the herd, volunteering at Reins of Life is a great thing to do with your time. Here are some testimonials from their volunteers:

“Since I’ve been at Reins of Life I’ve made countless friendships and created a family. My favorite part of my week is coming to volunteer and seeing my kids grow each week. It’s unbelievably rewarding to be a part of something that’s actively bringing changes to our community.” Sam B., College-aged volunteer horse leader

“Volunteering at Reins has been an enlightening experience for me just knowing what we do helps so many. The people I work with are great and the horses? Well, they’re great too! Come join us. You won’t be sorry.” Sophie, Volunteer feeder in her 80s

“Being a volunteer for Reins of Life has given me more than I could possibly give to them. It has become one of the high points of my week. The time I spend there connects me to beautiful animals and people. It takes a community to support such an amazing organization. I am proud to be a part of it.” Robyn, Volunteer feeder and mother of an adult participant

“Volunteering at Reins of Life is rewarding in so many ways! It’s a joy to be able to work alongside the horses and other like-minded people, to accomplish the mission of increased accessibility to horseback riding and driving for individuals with disabilities. It’s also therapeutic in its own way for volunteers!” Erika, Volunteer for Therapeutic riding, interactive vaulting, and therapeutic driving programs

“In my experience with ROL, my time has been like reading a really good book. The pastures look greener, the snow seems whiter and the horses impressive. I feel enriched by working with people and horses.” Rudy, Volunteer feeder, lesson volunteer, and maintenance volunteer

New volunteer training will be held on Monday, March 25 from 2-4:30 p.m. CT, and Tuesday, March 26 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Only one training is required. No horse experience is necessary. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old and wear closed-toe shoes.
