October 3- Nov. 22: Pets of La Porte County Exhibit! From Catherine Barker's Boston Terrier who haunts the Barker Mansion to Jake the Bear who was the start of the Washington Park Zoo, this exhibit showcases La Porte County's best friends!
October 13: Veteran Free Day! To honor Navy Founding Day, all veterans and active duty military are welcome to come to the museum free of charge. For free admission, a form of ID is required to show that you are a veteran or active military member. Acceptable forms of ID include: Affairs Card, Indiana Veterans Card, VFW, American Legion, and Driver's License with Veterans ID.
October 17: Historical Society Meeting! Retired Judge William Boklund recounts the aftermath of Belle Gunness's terrible actions. With updated research from the original court documents, this program delves into the turmoil of the La Porte COunty courts after the 1908 fire on the Gunness Farm. This event starts at 7pm at the Museum. All are welcome to this free event.
October 21:Belle Gunness: The History of the Mystery Event! From 11am to 2pm, join us to learn even more about Belle Gunness. 'The Gunness Mystery' documentary showing will be at 11am, followed by a downtown historic walk at noon. At 2pm, Retired Judge William Boklund will give his program, 'Stories from the Gunness Mystery'.
October 28: Museum Trick or Treat! From 2-4pm, time traveling Halloween guests are set to visit the Museum again this year! Come trick or treat through time at the Museum. Admission is free to trick or treaters during the event.
