The Horizon Bank Minority Scholarship Program awarded ten, $1,000 scholarships to area high school students through the Urban League of Northwest Indiana on May 10th.
Recipients of the Horizon Bank Scholarships included: Trinity Allen, Vanessa Del Real, Jose Torres, Brianne Simmons, William Murry, Gretta Burke, Megan Hudson, Sanaaiya West, Chloe Wisniewski, and Halle Hood.
Horizon is committed to investing in our local communities, and we are proud to honor these exceptional young minds,” stated Alexis Harris, Horizon Banks Community Reinvestment Act Officer. “It is our hope that the scholarships will empower these students to shape a brighter tomorrow.”
Horizon’s Diversity Business Council developed the Minority Scholarship Program to encourage minority students to pursue higher educations. The scholarships awarded were based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, and potential. The application process was administered through a partnership with the Urban League of NWI Inc., along with community leaders who chose the recipients based upon scoring of set criteria.
