Summary:

Opportunity Enterprises, Inc. (OE) serves individuals with disabilities throughout Northwest Indiana. With facilities in Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties, one property known as Lakeside, sits on the shore of beautiful and serene Lake Eliza. This building hosts educational Day Service programs including Daily Living Skills, Enriching Possibilities, and Renewed Horizons, where adults with disabilities have opportunities to learn skills of self-sufficiency, communication, and enrich their lives.

What is unique about this lakeside property is the 158 acres of wooded and vast open outdoor space affording OE room to expand its physical footprint in order to grow life-enhancing programs reaching more Northwest Indiana residents and beyond. OE and its Board of Directors, through strategic visioning, has big plans for the Lakeside property. It began by a construction project which tripled the size of an existing facility on the property to house Day Programs and the construction of apartments. The vision now continues through the construction of the Lakeside Respite Center. Through extremely generous donors, over $5 million of the $5.9 million, or 85% of goal has been raised to date. OE is breaking ground for the new facility with plans of operating respite programming by May 2023.
