John Downs joined HealthLinc in March 2020 as a certified peer recovery coach (CAPRC II) and was promoted to LaPorte County Mobile Integrated Response Team Coordinator in 2023. His role includes building community connections and strengthening partnerships to assist those struggling with substance use. He understands the difficulties facing those trying to improve their lives and recover from substance use disorder. He has been clean and sober for five years and is passionate about his recovery and providing help to others on their recovery journey.

John was recently appointed vice chair for the Yana Service Club of LaPorte County, a support group for those living with alcoholism.

He has lived in LaPorte County for 16 years and enjoys fishing, golf, and attending music concerts. He loves to cook and has a deep appreciation for good coffee. He has one son and a Yorkshire terrier named Lily.
