La Porte County Youth Mental Health and Systems Improvement Pilot

Event:

United Way of La Porte County (UWLPC) welcomes Congressman Frank J. Mrvan at the Northern Indiana Education Foundation in Michigan City, IN. Mrvan will present appropriations funding to UWLPC, share his thoughts on the youth mental health and substance abuse crisis, and receive an update on the pilot’s deliverables. The pilot includes a detailed and comprehensive youth mental health and substance abuse needs assessment that will include recommendations to address local concerns.

Background:

Rep. Mrvan secured $100,000 in appropriations for United Way of La Porte County to be used to better understand and address youth mental health and substance concerns in La Porte County.

 

Explanation of Request:

The project proposed by United Way of La Porte County will include the completion of a comprehensive youth mental health and substance abuse needs assessment for La Porte County, provide community education and outreach to youth and families in need of services, promote the youth mental health/substance abuse career pathways, and create a local advocacy plan for on-going systems improvements.
