“A Grand Night for Singing” is a musical revue showcasing the work of Richard Rodgers
and Oscar Hammerstein.
Steve Scott, DST Artistic Director, said audiences will enjoy 30
songs from hit musicals, such as “Oklahoma!,” “Carousel,” “The Sound of Music,”
“South Pacific,” and “The King and I.”
“It’s a
nostalgic look back at two of the great creators of the classic American
musical. You’ll be tapping your toes and humming
along in a joyful evening filled with fresh takes on the music you love.”
Lauren Katz is directing DST’s production of “A Grand Night for
Singing.” She is a freelance director, dramaturg, and teaching artist
who has worked with numerous Chicago theatre companies, including Goodman
Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre Company and Victory Gardens. This is her DST
directing debut.
Katz

have been a fan of Rodgers and Hammerstein for years, and I am excited to
collaborate with Andrew and these excellent actors to bring the magic and
romance of this popular music into the current moment. We invite you to join us

learn about the highs and lows of falling in love.”
Andrew
Flasch, music director for “A Grand Night for Singing,” is a DST veteran who
has provided music direction for numerous productions, most recently “Next to
Normal.” Flasch is a Chicago based music
director, vocal director, keyboardist, composer, arranger, and music educator.
He currently runs an online piano studio with an emphasis on jazz and music
theory.
Five talented vocalists will share the DST spotlight:
Garrett Gagnon is a freelance actor in film/television and
theatre. Originally from Vermont, he received his theatre training at Pine
Manor College and Boston College in Massachusetts.
Danielle Kerr is a Chicago-based actor and longtime Rodgers
and Hammerstein enthusiast. She received a bachelor’s degree in theatre and
English from Northwestern University.
Sierra Jimenez is a Southern California native who is
currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in musical theatre at Oklahoma City
University.
Maya Pierce is a Chicago-based actor and a
recent graduate of Northwestern University, where she studied musical
theatre and computer science.
Max
DeTogne is a Chicago-based actor most recently seen on DST’s 2022 summer stage
as Dan in Next to Normal.

Tickets for “A Grand Night for Singing” are now on sale at
dunesARTS.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the door before a performance.
Discounts are available for students, seniors and groups of 5 or more.
DST Gala tickets for July 15 are $125, including cocktails,
appetizers and the opening night of “A Grand Night for Singing.” The special
event is the
premier funding raising event for Dunes Arts Foundation, the nonprofit organization
overseeing Dunes Summer Theatre to provide high-quality performing and fine
arts that inspire audiences and promote community spirit.
