Youth Theatre Classes

Dunes Summer Theatre announces two sessions for the 2022 Summer Youth Camp: Session One (early summer) from June 12 to June 30; and Session Two (Late summer) from July 11 to July 29, 2022. Performances for family and friends will take place the Friday after each session, at 11am.  Cost for each session is $200 and some scholarships are available.

Two Sessions:  

#1 Early Summer, June 13-June 30. GROUP A: Matilda for ages 8-12; and GROUP B: Newsies for ages 13-18. 

 

Classes will include learning scripts and songs from the popular production of Matilda(for younger groups), Newsies (for teens), and all students will perform together for families and friends on July 1, 11am. 

 

#2 Late Summer, July 11-July 28. GROUP A: Seussical, for ages 8-12, and GROUP B: The Addams Family for ages 13-18. 

 

Classes will include learning scripts and songs from the popular production of Seussical (for younger groups), The Addams Family (for teens), and all students will perform together for families and friends on July 29, 11am. 

 

All students will learn about acting, singing, dancing, and auditioning. Each session course will run for three weeks during which you will learn three songs from popular musicals and several scenes that will tie the story together. Auditions for roles in the show (all class members will get a role) will happen during week two. At the end of the three weeks, you will perform excerpts from the musical for your families.

Students may supplement their instruction with another session during the summer. 

 

About the instructors: Emily and Travis Franks both graduated with their BFA’s in Theatre Performance. Travis attended Central Washington University and specializes in acting and improvisation. Emily attended the University of Idaho and specializes in musical theatre and Shakespeare. They are both thrilled to be a part of the Dunes Arts Foundation this summer and can’t wait to meet the students!
