Dunes Summer Theatre Announces Auditions for the 2023 Season

IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL SUBMISSIONS FOR 2023 SEASON

The Dunes Summer Theatre (DST), located at 288 Shady Oak Drive in Michigan City, Indiana (Steve Scott, Artistic Director), northwest Indiana’s longest producing summer theater, has announced in-person auditions and virtual submissions for its summer 2023 season. Productions announced for this season include:

● Boeing Boeing by Marc Camoletti, directed by Jay Espano

● tick...Tick...BOOM!, book, music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson, directed by Lauren Katz, music direction by Andrew Flasch

● Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang, directed by Steve Scott

● The Third Annual Broadway Cabaret: Hopes, Dreams and Flights of Fancy, musical direction by Andrew Flasch, stage direction by Steve Scott

● Voices from the Heartland: New Plays in Progress

IN-PERSON AUDITIONS will be held at the following locations:

● Michigan City, Indiana: Saturday, February 18 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Holdcraft Performing Arts Center, 1200 Spring Street, Michigan City (callbacks to be held on Sunday, February 19)

● Chicago, Illinois: Saturday, February 25 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the PrideArts Center, 4139 North Broadway, Chicago (callbacks to be held on Sunday, February 26)

Auditioners for all productions should prepare two contemporary monologues (one comic, one dramatic) with a combined length of no more than three minutes. Auditioners for musical productions should also prepare two songs, one from the pop-rock genre (32 bars each) from classic or contemporary musicals, showing your vocal range. To schedule an audition time for either city, please submit a request for audition and a current headshot and resume to artisticdirectordaf@gmail.com.

AUDITION TAPES will also be accepted for actors unable to attend in-person auditions. Tapes should be prepared according to the guidelines listed above and should be accompanied by a current headshot and resume. Audition materials should be submitted to artisticdirectordaf@gmail.com no later than February 28.

Non-Equity actors of all ethnic backgrounds, gender identifications and body types are strongly encouraged to audition. DST actors receive $100 per rehearsal week and $50 per performance; living accommodations are also available.
