GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To provide effective planning, coordinations and execution of the liturgical celebrations of the parish. Coordinates and directs the parish music program as well as teaches music to the school students in collaboration with the pastor and school principal.
Requirements

  • Collaborate with the pastor/school principal in implementing the mission of the parish and school. 
  • Direct the parish worship program by developing and organizing plans which respond to the parish’s worship needs. 
  • Coordinate liturgical celebrations and the recruitment and selection of musicians, instrumentalists when needed. 
  • Conduct weekly rehearsals of parish choir and school choir as needed. 
  • Develop and administer music education curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives. 
  • Available for ministry at weddings, funerals and special liturgical events. 
  • Coordinate with other staff members and participate in faculty and weekly office staff meetings. 

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Active and participating member of the Roman Catholic Faith in good standing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in music 
  • Ability to play at sight keyboard and organ and ability to sing with accurate pitch and rhythm. 
  • Ability to direct choirs for adults and children, provide vocal training for cantors and teach music literature as appropriate. 
  • Knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy and familiarity with the Lectionary and Sacramentary.
  • Enthusiastic willingness to work with people demonstrating joy in service of God’s people. 
  • Develop a balanced music program and lessons to organize class time so that students have adequate time for preparation, rehearsal and instruction. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the candidate may be required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, lift and move items up to 25 lbs. 

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Successful prior teaching experience in music preferred.

SALARY:

  • This position is a full-time position which requires a flexible time schedule of 40 -50 hours a week.?
  • The starting salary for this position is $45,000 plus additional money for playing funerals and weddings.  The salary is negotiable.
