The annual United Way of La Porte County Blazing Paddles Pickleball Tournament brings our community together for a fun and exciting competition in one of America’s fastest growing outdoor sports, featuring some of our community’s fiercest competitors, to support HEALTHY COMMUNITY initiatives throughout La Porte County, including youth after school programming, the backpack food program, and so much more!
Join us for blazing fast, leveled mixed doubles competition in 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 with a maximum of 72 players on 6 courts. Players can register as a 2 person team or as an individual to be paired with a partner on the day of the tournament.
Kesling Park has plenty of parking, seating for spectators, restrooms and concessions for purchase. There will also be a raffle with exciting prizes. So, even if you don't play, come join us in cheering for all our blazing competitors!
No refunds will be provided for paid registrations. All transactions are final. All participants must read and agree to the Release, Permission, and Indemnity Agreement to participate. Your registration/ticket purchase is your acceptance to the following agreement:
RELEASE, PERMISSION, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT
Waiver:
In consideration of being permitted to participate in any way in using the pickleball courts at Kesling Park, I, for myself, my heirs or assigns, do hereby release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue The LaPorte County Parks Department, The City of LaPorte, The United Way of LaPorte County, The YMCA, or any sponsors, its/their Directors, officers, employees and agents from liability from any and all claims resulting in personal injuries, accidents or illnesses (including death) and property loss arising from, but not limited to, participation in this pickleball event or court usage.
Assumption of Risk:
Participation in this event, tournament or court usage in anyway carries with it certain inherent risks that cannot be eliminated regardless of the precautions that are taken to avoid injuries. The specific risks vary, but include 1) minor injuries such as bruises, sprains and dehydration, 2) major injuries such as eye injuries, joint or back injuries, heat stroke, heart attacks, and concussions, and 3) catastrophic injuries such as paralysis and death, and 4) such as communicable diseases including COVID-19. I have read the previous paragraphs and I know, understand and appreciate these and other risks that are inherent in playing pickleball. I assert that my participation is voluntary and that I knowingly assume all such risks.
Indemnification and Hold Harmless:
I also agree to indemnify and hold The LaPorte County Parks Department, The City of LaPorte, United Way of LaPorte County, The YMCA, and all sponsors, its Directors and Officers, harmless from any and all claims, actions, suits, costs, expenses, damages and liabilities, including attorney’s fees brought as a result of my involvement with this pickleball event.
Use Permission:
I also give United Way of LaPorte County and its agents and designee’s permission to use or distribute, without limitation or obligation, my image, name, voice, and words for any purpose connected with this event, including promotional, marketing, training, informational, and archival uses.
In consideration of being permitted to participate in any way in this Pickleball Tournament ("Event") hosted by United Way of LaPorte County ("Event Host"), I, for myself, my heirs or assigns, hereby release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue any event director(s), their officers, employees or agents from liability from any and all claims resulting in personal injuries, death, accidents, illnesses (such as communicable diseases including COVID-19), and property loss arising from, but not limited to, participation in the Event.
