Reins of Life Therapeutic Horseback Riding Center in Michigan City is offering new volunteer training on Monday, October 21, from 2-4:30 p.m. Volunteers don’t have to have horse experience, but do need to be at least 13 years old and wear closed-toe shoes. After attending this training, volunteers can help in therapeutic riding lessons, special education field trips, Nuzzles and Snuggles program, and events such as horse shows and parades.
If you can’t make this training, horse feeders are also needed. You’ll get a private training when you sign up. Feeders generally volunteer for one shift a week at either 7 a.m. or 3:30 p.m. Feeding includes handling all of the 15-horse herd, throwing hay, cleaning stalls, and takes about 1.5 hours per shift. Feeding volunteers need to be 16+ years old.
To RSVP for either of these training sessions, please call 219-874-7519. If no one answers, please leave a message including your email address.
