The Salvation Army of Michigan City continues monthly family fun event
MICHIGAN CITY, April 13, 2023 - Family-friendly Friday night fun continues at The Salvation Army of Michigan City as another session of “Friday Night at the SAL” is planned for Friday, April 21 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Friday Night at the SAL is a free monthly event, taking place every third Friday of the month at The Salvation Army of Michigan City, 1201 S. Franklin Street. It is free and open to the public, with dinner, dessert, and prizes included.
“Our goal with Friday Night at the SAL is to provide family-friendly activities and offer a safe space for quality family time,” said Major Dale Simmons, who oversees programs at The Salvation Army of Michigan City along with his wife, Major Becky Simmons. “The fellowship is great, and we have a new activity planned every month.”
This month, the activity will be Disney karaoke. Past activities include family game night, a talent show, bingo, glow dance, and art projects.
“Friday Night at the SAL began in 2022, after the COVID-19 pandemic, to address the lack of family-friendly activities in Michigan City,” Simmons said. “Since its beginning, this event has offered a chance for families with children of all ages to get together for a fun night out, without a barrier of cost.”
In addition to Friday Night at the SAL, The Salvation Army of Michigan City offers a food pantry, diaper bank, utility assistance, clothing closet, weekend backpack feeding program, holiday assistance, summer camp, and case management.
