The VNA of NWI's Veteran-to-Veteran Program Aims to pair recruited Veteran Volunteers with the VNA's hospice patients who have been identified as Veterans.

What is the importance of Veteran Volunteers?

Veterans are a part of a distinct culture with their own common language and experience.

When Veterans interact, their common language and experience can form a strong bond.

The camaraderie created between Veterans has proven to be supportive for all involved.

What are some activities that Veteran Volunteers do?

Assist Veterans in reminiscing/telling life stories.

Take part in pinning ceremonies or distribute certificates for Veterans Day and other events.

Assist in Veteran-to-Veteran Café’s that the VNA hosts.

If you are interested in volunteering with the VNA for the Veteran-to Veteran program, please call Erica at 219-462-5195 or email:

*Participating in the program requires hospice training, TB tests, and flu shots.
